SBS Broadcasting Orders Dutch Remake of Candace Bushnell’s ‘Lipstick Jungle’
SBS Broadcasting has ordered a Dutch remake of “Lipstick Jungle,” the NBC show penned by “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell, for Net5 network.
The deal was inked with NBCUniversal International Formats, which reps “Lipstick Jungle” worldwide. Endemol Shine Netherlands is producing the Dutch version, titled “Meiden van de Herengracht” (“Girls from the Herengracht”).
The Amsterdam-set series, which comprises eight one hour episodes, will debut on Net5 in the 2015 fall season. The cast will include Kim Pieters, Fockeline Ouwerkerk and Sarah Chronis.
“We are really proud that we will air the Dutch remake of the American format “Lipstick Jungle” this fall. We consider this series to be a perfect fit with Net5 and we contracted a great cast in cooperation with producer Endemol Shine Netherlands,” said Net5 Channel manager Ana Henriques.
The series turns on three best friends who live fast, glamorous lives, while building their careers, struggling and helping each other along the way, explained Annemieke van Vliet, Endemol Shine Netherlands’ creative producer.
“Girls from the Herengracht” will be the first international adaptation of “Lipstick Jungle,” pointed out Hannah Worrall, VP of format sales and production for NBCUniversal International Formats.
Shooting will start later this month for an expected bow on Net5 in the fall.
