Italian ‘Parenthood’ Gets Second Season Order From Pubcaster RAI
The first international adaptation of NBC’s “Parenthood” has proved to be a hit. Italo pubcaster Rai’s Rai Fiction unit has ordered a second season of the redo titled “Tutto Può Succeedere (“Anything Can Happen”)
Produced by Cattleya for Rai Fiction “Tutto Può Succedere” (pictured) transposes “Parenthood” from Berkeley to Rome. It’s the first ever U.S.-scripted remake for Rai 1 which is the pubcaster’s flagship station.
The second series will go into production in May in Rome and will be back on Rai 1 this year. Re-commission of the NBCUniversal International format follows the recent finale of season one of “Tutto” which drew a strong more than 16 percent prime-time audience share on the channel capping a pretty good run. The original US series created by Jason Katims ran to more than one hundred episodes on NBC from 2010 to 2015.
“We are pleased to greenlight a second season of “Tutto Può Succedere,” a series that has been widely appreciated by Rai 1 viewers, especially by young audiences,” enthused Rai Fiction topper Eleonora Andreatta in a statement. “The adaptation has been successful. And while the rhythm and the style recall the American original format, the characters and the story, as well as the rich soundtrack, are deeply rooted in contemporary Italian family life,” she added.
“While its style was truly innovative for Rai 1’s audience, the series found an enthusiastic and loyal viewership,” boasted Cattleya prexy Riccardo Tozzi. “We’re confident that their numbers will grow in the series’ second season.”
Cattleya has been expanding its TV side after scoring a global hit with naturalistic crimer “Gomorrah,” produced for Rupert Murdoch’s Sky paybox and sold to more than 100 territories.
